The lineup
There are countless of festivals this summer, but Awakenings is ranked high on our list every year. Awakenings releases impressive lineups each year, including regular guests like Amelie Lens, Adam Beyer, Joris Voorn and Nina Kraviz you know you are going to have a blast. With 8 different stages and over 100 artists, there is something for everyone. Awakenings always has the perfect balance between techno pioneers and new talents who are dying to let you hear their sound. If you want to go hard on Drumcode or feel spacey on minimal: this weekend has it all. The lineup for Awakenings is every year something to look forward to.
The location
Each year, Awakenings takes place in Hilvarenbeek. This festival area offers enough space for 8 stages. Each stage of Awakenings has much space and is nicely built. If you have had enough of dancing and you would like to take a break, you can sit on the grass next to the water or relax and lay in a hammock.
Back to the beginning
Let’s look back to where it all started. In 1997, the first edition of Awakenings took place in the Gashouder of the Westergasfabriek in Amsterdam. It was almost Easter and Rocco Veenboer, the organiser since day one, was wondering what we celebrate during Easter. He found out that it is all about Jesus rising from the death, also called “awakening”. This meant the birth of Awakenings! Since then, it is a globally known concept within the techno scene, partly thanks to the very well known statement of Rocco: HUUUUWAKENINGS!
It's also about the looks
Besides music, the festival is also known for its spectacular stages and impressive ligthshows. Especially the design of the main stage is always an attraction. Awakenings is also one of the very few techno festivals that end their party with a mega firework show. Another reason why Awakenings Festival is so special! There are many more tips for Awakenings.
Lose Your Mind
Visitors from all over the world gather this weekend in Hilvarenbeek. Many visitors are Dutch but also people from outside the Netherlands are represented and we understand why: the sun almost disappears behind the stage, Adam Beyer, the most booked DJ at Awakenings, is behind the turntables and drops “Your Mind”. You look around and see all those people with the same passion: techno. Believe us: you’ll lose your mind…
